Create Wallet
Learn how to create a new Cave wallet from scratch.
Prerequisites
- Cave Wallet extension installed (Installation Guide)
- A secure environment (private, no screen sharing)
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Open Cave Wallet
Click the Cave icon in your browser toolbar to open the extension.
Step 2: Select "Create New Wallet"
On the welcome screen, click Create New Wallet.
Step 3: Set Your Password
Create a strong password:
Requirements:
✓ At least 8 characters
✓ Mix of uppercase and lowercase
✓ Include numbers
✓ Include special characters (!@#$%^&*)WARNING
This password cannot be recovered. Store it securely!
Step 4: Save Your Recovery Phrase
You'll see 12 or 24 words. This is your recovery phrase.
Critical Security Step
- Write down ALL words in the exact order
- Use pen and paper (not digital)
- Store in a secure location
- Consider multiple backup locations
- NEVER share with anyone
Step 5: Verify Your Backup
Cave will ask you to confirm some words from your phrase. This ensures you've correctly backed up.
Step 6: Done!
Your wallet is now created and ready to use.
Multiple Accounts
You can create multiple accounts within one wallet:
- Click the account selector (top of wallet)
- Click "Add Account"
- Name your new account
- Done! Switch between accounts anytime
Best Practices
- ✅ Create wallet in private
- ✅ Use a unique, strong password
- ✅ Store recovery phrase offline
- ✅ Test recovery before depositing large amounts
- ❌ Never screenshot your recovery phrase
- ❌ Never store phrase in cloud storage
- ❌ Never share your phrase with anyone
